This story collection is a journey through identity construction and the anxious space between appearances and the self. What is it that makes us who we really are? Is it the aesthetics we favour, the media we consume, our families, friendships, and romantic partners? Are we bound or liberated by our interests and the groups we are part of? How do we stop hiding behind masks and come into our own? At the heart of it all: can we still love ourselves and live happily when we may never know who 'we' are? The characters in these stories face various issues: what happens when a fear of death becomes a fear of life, can one go too far in their obsession with the past, and how struggling with who you are can lead you down a path of desperately trying to be someone else in order to escape loneliness.
