Despite dramatic changes in the structure of employment in the 1980s, men and women remain highly segregated at work. This segregation is strongly related to inequalities in pay, career prospects, and employment protection. This book presents a systematic analysis of these issues through the study of six local labour markets in Britain during the 1980s.
