Ælfric’s Catholic Homilies convey mainstream Christian thought at the turn of the millennium. The first series draws on the works of Augustine and Bede, among others, to create forty sermons for use throughout the year. This is the first complete translation of the Catholic Homilies since 1844, presented alongside the newly edited Old English text.
