Reviews the role of proteins in the development of atherosclerosis. Based on data obtained from almost 2,000 research articles and literature reviews, this work examines and discusses how emphasis on the role of dietary fat in atherogenesis has overshadowed the critical contribution of dietary proteins to the development of cardiovascular disease.
