The Element introduces Gothic studies as a valuable lens through which we think about dementia. It argues that the Gothic's foundational narrative techniques can be used to approach chronological confusion, fragmentation, cyclical storytelling, repetition, unreliable narrators, unstable identities, uncanny behaviours and Otherness.
