St. Gregory of Nyssa (335 - 395 AD), the great theologian and bishop Nyssa, turned his considerable skill to finishing the work that his brother St. Basil the Great had started on the creation of the world (the Hexaemeron). The result is this work which examines how humans are formed as a "mean between the divine, and brute beasts."
This work is a modern translation with American spelling. It is modified form of an older translation in the collection, Gregory of Nyssa: dogmatic treatises, etc., New York: Christian Literature Co., 1893. translated by H. A. Wilson (1854-1927). The original footnotes and Bible references are preserved.
