Harold Child (1869–1945) was a literary critic and writer, who was prominent in the development of dramatic criticism. This 1939 book presents a humorous and self-deprecating account of Child's early experiences as an actor in various theatrical companies, prior to his decision to leave the stage and concentrate on writing.
