I have no great actions to boast of,
but I will endeavor in my way, which
is a way of my own, to write you
some anecdotes, give you some ideas
of how we fared, what we did, what we
seen, and how we seen it.
I do not propose to give you a history
of the war, or a history of the prisoners
in the South.
I was a prisoner.
