The land along the Ohio River is newly settled. Indomitable men and women-Col. Zane and his family, the McCollochs, Wetzel, the "Death Wind" Indian killer, among them-have hewn a life out of the frontier wilderness, building homesteads and farms around the stockade and blockhouse of Fort Henry.
