A scholarly edition of a Canadian classic, first published in 1864. Its author, Rosanna Leprohon was a Montrealer who married a French Canadian. Most of her fiction deals with relationships between English and French Canadians in 19th-century Canada. This edition includes an introduction by a Canadian specialist and a large number of footnotes.
