The researcher empirically examined factors influencing fertilizer use by smallholder farmers in Bahir Dar surrounding provinces via employment of primary cross sectional data. The descriptive statistics revealed that fertilizer application in the study area was below the recommendation rate. Credit fungibility really is becoming the challenging factor for farmers not to be interested in applying fertilizer on their farm lands. According to this study, livestock sector, saving, extension follow-up and Perennial tree plantation are the hot priority areas which need to get due attention in the future to use modern agricultural technologies to boost agricultural production.
