What structural barriers do women with a migration background face when they turn to women's shelters? In this participatory ethnography, the author, herself an employee of an institution, sheds light on the various forms of violence that characterize the experiences of these women. Through intersectional perspectives, new insights are gained into the challenges faced before, during and after accessing services. The study offers a critical analysis of the professional actions of the staff, which are shaped by culturalizing approaches and marginalizing policies.
