Judicial Modification of Capacity in Mental Illness
Omschrijving
The procedures for modifying the capacity to act have repercussions in many areas of the lives of patients with mental illness. On numerous occasions, these procedures lead to the establishment of protective measures that make up for the patient's lack of capacity (guardianships), as opposed to other less restrictive measures (conservatorships), which assist and complement this capacity.Psychiatrists are necessary collaborators in these processes that will mark the future of our patients. Given the personal, civil and legal transcendence that this entails for them and their environment, it is necessary for psychiatrists to implement the knowledge we have in this area.
