Firaq Gorakhpuri's major achievement is to adopt and promote certain important trends and attitudes of English poetry. He is the first eminent poet of Urdu who adapted the English poetic aesthetics in the form of Urdu. Apart from this, he has emphasized the possibilities of Urdu ghazal in the modern era and the continuation of the tradition of Urdu poetry.
