Le Droit des Gens, Volume I by Emer de Vattel is a 1916 replica of Books I and II of the original French edition published in 1758, with an introduction by Albert de Lapradelle, a French jurist. The English translation, The Law of Nations, changed the landscape of international law and is still consulted by jurists worldwide. Both Benjamin Franklin and George Washington held copies of the book, which was used in developing the system of modern conscription, among other American law practices.
